2009 Graduation

On June 9th, thirteen teens that have been treated for cancer or serious blood disorders were honored at a graduation ceremony sponsored by ASK and the Hospital Education Program. Alma Morgan organized the event which included an appearance from Governor Timothy Kaine. Each graduate had the opportunity to invite members of their family and school community. Additionally ASK was able to distribute several scholarships due to the generosity of donors. It was a special way to celebrate the academic accomplishments of young people who have faced tremendous challenges to get to this day.

  "Making a Difference in May"

On Friday, May 15th the Tad DuPriest Foundation raised over $65,000 to help ASK's programs. A day of golf at Providence Golf Club was followed by an evening bash at Plant Zero. A special thank you to the entire board and event chairs Jim Baber, Bentley Keso and Jody Parker for their hard work!"

Summer School
Enrichment Program

 ASK will sponsor two summer enrichment programs in July. The first one is July 1-2 in Fredericksburg and the second one is scheduled for July 20-24 at Penny Tree Place. Each session will focus on building advocacy and socialization skills as well as academic remediation. The days will also include sessions developed by local museums and educational organizations.
